NOV 25 -CD Recording Update

The recording of my CD material has been held up for a while however should now be back on track. Chris had a few issues with his studio setup but they have been resolved so it is full steam ahead. We are booked to do the remaining for drum tracks on the 2nd of December so, fingers crossed, all drum tracks should be done within a week! The next lot of songs to drum track will be -

Absolut Duality
Angel 17
Reality
Recalibrate the Solar Wind Generators

Evan has done a magnificent job with the first batch of four songs. Ever heard a slapped 12 string bass? I have!!! and it will be on the CD as well... The 12 string bass is somewhat like a 12 string guitar except there are 3 strings per string point. Fat warm sound!

So, though it has taken a while everything is coming together. I am going to be releasing an EP in the first quarter of next year because I want something out for you guys to hear as soon as possible. I will then proceed to to complete the full length album.

Thanks for your patience and to the people who have been interested in my work so far. Yes, I know the download page here and on Myspace is pretty sparse with only one track available (Absolute Duality in demo form) but until the final versions are done that is how it will stay.

August 25 - Evan Harris - Bassist for CD Project

I have been very fortunate to hook up with Evan Harris who will be playing Bass for material on my current CD project. Evan is an extremely capable player with a very impressive array of instruments and stylistic approaches at his disposal.

Evan has worked with Endel Rivers and is currently working with Australian Power Metal band Black Majesty.

Evan displays an extremely versatile talent through his work with these artists. I am also finding new approaches in the work he has completed on my own material and am very excited about how cool Evan and Greg (drums) are going to sound in the final mix.

July 24 -Drum Tracking - Four Songs Complete

On Saturday just gone Chris Devenish (sound engineer and production), Greg Limberis (drums) and myself (just a passenger) met at Chris Devenish's recording studio to track the drums for four of my original songs:

Finding Holes in Rainbows
Surfing With the Tsunamian
Not In Kansas Anymore
Another Dream

Greg was very well prepared having loaded his kit in a day before thus giving Chris time to set up and test the mic placements prior to the scheduled tracking.

Chris has been recording and producing Greg's drums for quite some time now and they have an awesome series of drum loops available - Loop Me Up! Click HERE and HERE for samples of their work together.

Chris, Greg and myself will book a second day sometime soon to complete another four songs - the titles of which will be released once the work is complete.

The next step is to begin work with an awesome Melbourne based (but internationally experienced) bassist and complete the kick ass rhythm section recordings prior to doing my own work on guitars, keys and vocals.

July 12 -Drum Tracking for CD EP

I have had my final rehearsal with Greg Limberis prior to heading into the studio to track drums for 4 original songs. The tracking session will be occuring this Saturday and I am pretty excited. A subsequent session will nail the remaining songs.

I have a lot of work to do once these drum tracks are completed but I am very much looking forward to hearing these songs as they should be played.

Greg is a fantastic drummer and Chris Devenish (sound engineer) pulls a great drum mix. Click HERE and HERE to hear (sic) samples of their work together.

May 12 - Steve Turner Solo CD EP News

I am currently working towards a four song solo CD EP. I will be employing some very talented session players to perform Drum and Bass duties.

The drummer is Greg Limberis, also of Melbourne Australia. He has worked with many prominent local songwriters and is a very fine player.

Drum sound recording and mixing will be completed by Chris Devenish of Trouble Productions. Chris is an extremely versatile composer, audio engineer and musician.

The bassist working on this project is yet to be announced due to his ongoing commitments with a very succesful local melodic metal band...
