October 13th - 2008 - I-HEART-GUITAR Interview!
Tomorrow Peter Hodgson will be publishing an interview he conducted regarding my CD EP "Not in Kansas Anymore" and about music in general.
I-HEART-GUITAR is a well written and regularly updated site dedicated to product news and artist interviews.
You can even add it to your RSS feed to stay on top of everything that is interesting about guitars and guitar music.
And yes, I did read it prior to being interviewed ;)

October 10th - 2008 - RJM Music: Artist Endorsement
I am proud to say that I have just received an artist endorsement from RJM Music.
RJM build devices which allow guitarists to control their amp features via midi (Amp Gizmo) and their pedals also (RG-16). They also build an awesome midi controller called the Mastermind.
I will post pictures and a review once I settle in with the gear. In the mean time, check out the manufacturer site:
RJM Music
Those of you who have seen my rig know that the RJM Amp Gizmo has been at the heart of my ability to play live and switch sounds quickly and without any fuss. I love my Mesa Boogie but havent really felt in control of it until I was able to trigger channel changes, effects loop and solo boost on/off settings via midi.
The great thing about the RG-16 is that it will let me also trigger my analog pedals via midi... A dream come true!

June 06 - 2008 - CD PRE ORDER NOW AVAILABLE!
Everything is done and the CDs are being replicated over the next week or so. I should have them in my hands in the third week of June. I can truthfully say that it sounds fantastic and that I think you will all agree!

Orders will ship once I have the CDs until the end of June and will then resume in the last week of July due to my visit to Germany.
Completing this CD EP is a real milestone for me and I am very happy with the results. I find it very hard to listen objectively to my own work and those who know me will know that I am massively self critical. However, there comes a time when you just have to let go! Fortunately, when that time came I was indeed very happy with the results.
It has been a long time coming and I am very proud of the complete package as well as the efforts that everyone has made to help me make it a reality. There is much more to come... I have already started planning my next studio project which will be an even more ambitious undertaking for perfomers and listeners alike.
May 20 - 2008 - CD EP Progress
The CD EP project is going really well. I have found the right people for the job in all tasks I can't do for myself. I will name names once it is all done but I have made an effort to produce the best set of songs I can with the available resources.
I had always wanted to do a full length album but in the end the idea of a short and hard hitting EP won me over without constraining me to the pressures of a full length album
I have the concept art for the CD graphics in front of me and it looks fantastic. The gentleman I have mixing the songs is doing a great job and so far it looks highly likely I will get the first run reproduced before I go over seas...
Of course, the EP will be for sale here as well as at gigs and I might even have some with me at Shredfest 3 on the 22nd of June - see the GIGS page for more information.
Writing my thankyou list has been the hardest part in some ways. I have been playing so long now, I know that there are many people who helped me out in life and in music (like there is a difference) but have gone in different directions and wont ever read the thankyou list anyway.
There are others who have come on the scene and made massive impressions with selfless help for what is, in all honesty, quite a selfish project. There are far too many people to thank without writing something longer than the history of the entire universe.
To further complicate matters there are those people whom I never met yet whose lives have cast such a radiant light that their work has influenced me in ways beyond words. Hmmmm... A thankyou list really is a no win situation. But I will try.
May 09 - 2008 - Shredfest 3 Announced - General News
Okay so I announced there would be no more gigs until late this year. Then I got a phone call from Conrad organising a third Shredfest gig and I couldn't refuse.
I have really enjoyed the Shredfest gigs so far and this one is going to be special - the venue is better and we have... Brett Garsed and his band headlining Shredfest 3!!!
Those of you who are guitar heads will know Brett is an incredible musician. Those of you who have met him will know he is a totally cool and top guy. Those of you who have not heard him yet absolutely must... br>
April 03 - 2008 - PBS Gig @ The Corner - and General News
Our next gig is at the Corner Hotel on the 26th of April at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne. This gig is part of a PBS Charity event and there will be some awesome METAL going on including Sydney powermetal greats - LORD.
This is a gig NOT to be missed. The STT will be playing two sets of music in between the other bands and should be a lot of fun. See the GIGs page for more information.
I have also been working hard on finishing material for my CD EP. It will be 5 or six songs including -
Surfing with the Tsunamian
Not in Kansas Anymore
Finding Holes in Rainbows
Recalibrate the Solar Wind Generators
Bonus Track :)
This will be completed by June this year.

February 06 - 2008 - The New Year.
Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!
My web dev guy Bobby has had some major PC issues and instead of waiting for a new 2008 news page I will just make do with this one for now. If everyone would be so kind as to send Bobby's PC some vibes of stability and coolness that would be appreciated by all concerned.
We have a gig at Dream Nightclub in Carlton on Saturday the 23rd of February. The Steve Turner Trio are playing with two metal bands whom I have not worked with before but based on what I have heard - expect a cool metal night with the STT as a bit of a change of mood. One thing that always impresses me about the metal crowd is the diversity of sounds and tastes. In the words of R.J. Dio - "We Rock!"
There are a few new songs in the site media player including acoustic versions of "Finding Holes in Rainbows" and "Not in Kansas Anymore". These were recorded with Dean Gaudoin on bass and Kansas has backing vocals by Christine from Xistance.
The acoustic project is a side project I am working on - though the STT is definitely still my main project. As a musician I like to challenge myself and playing my stage songs in an intimate acoustic setting is a chance to look at things from a different perspective. We have two more lined up including an acoustic interpretation of a classic Manowar song... These will most likely become part of a 4 song acoustic CD EP.
I am also working on an improvisation trio with local bassist Vincent Giles. We will most likely have Dan from Merlin Bird on board for the improv gigs. The lineup will be fairly fluid and include guest players from time to time.
Any of us in Melbourne will be pretty excited about the Iron Maiden gigs this week. It is great to see so many bands coming here at the moment. Keep an eye out for Helloween with Black Majesty (featuring Evan Harris on bass) support as well!
Steve.
